The energy created by solar power is clean, and environmentally friendly, it is also an energy resource that uses photovoltaic power that is abundant and can be use to supplement most of our energy needs. Solar power can be used for example, to heat water, and this is where a solar power water heater is required. Generally solar power water heaters use a solar electric module which powers the pump which is required to circulate the fluid through the collectors.

Basically, a solar water heater consists of three components, which are: a solar collector, which converts solar radiation into useable heat; a heat exchanger or pump module, which transfers the heat from the solar collector into the potable water; and a storage tank that is used to store the heated water.

There are many benefits that you can receive from having a solar power water heater in your home, such as the fact that because a solar power water heater greatly reduces the amount of fuel that you need to heat water, you are then having to use a greatly lessened amount of fuel for your home, saving an immense amount of wear and tear on the environment as well as saving the earth's available fossil-fuels, which are quickly becoming quite sparse.

For the most part solar water heaters only require a small amount of electricity to power the pump that circulates the heat transfer fluid around the collectors, by doing this the solar water heater is able to continue operating at night when there's no sun. Solar water heaters are in two main categories which are the year-round and seasonal.

The year-round solar power water heater is one which is specifically designed to operate reliably throughout the entire year, and are generally more expensive than that of the seasonal systems, however they do provide more energy savings for the most part, and the benefit of having them assured to work steadily throughout the year is an incredibly important advantage.

The seasonal solar power water heater is designed to work only if the temperatures out doors is around freezing. Although this type of water heater is cheaper than the all year round solar water heaters, they can only operate during the winter months when the weather is colder. So the choice is yours do you go for a seasonal water heater or do you go for the all year round model.
