Benefits Of A Hybrid Electric Car.

You just filled the gas tank and can't believe the digits looking back at you, it seems to be unending. The price of gas just steadily increases along with your visits to the service station. Furiously, you

declare, "something must be done" as you, return the pump to its holder. Then you see an article about the hybrid electric car in the filling station magazine rack, the seed as been planted and you know your next mission.

Positive changes for our environment depends on each of us making an effort to implement those changes. Therefore, you have decided to look into the purchase of a hybrid electric car. The first step in this process is to convince yourself of the benefits of a electric hybrid car. Those benefits include the hybrid car being energy efficient and safer for the environment.

A electric hybrid car combines the strengths of a traditional internal combustion engine and those of en electrically powered vehicle. The electric power is generated by batteries made from Nickel-Metal-Hydride. These lightweight batteries store electrical power, and can be totally discharged and then recharged to 100 percent.

Electric hybrids have an internal combustion engine like most other cars, but it's smaller. However, in contributing to the energy efficiency, the motor is smaller and lighter in weight. Moreover, maximum efficiency is achieved because the motor is constructed according to average power used by a hybrid electric car. On the other hand, the size of a convention internal combustion engine depends upon the maximum amount of power it is intended to supply.

The Honda Insight and Civic Hybrid, use the electric motor to help the gas engine only when a driving situation requires more power, such as overtaking another vehicle.

Usually, the vehicle will get forty to sixty miles per gallon of gas, the hybrid electric car is therefore less expensive to maintain and operate.

Are electric hybrids safer for the environment?

With the electric hybrid car being more energy efficient, another important benefit is the decrease of pollutants released in the air. This reduction in air pollution is due to less fuel being expended per mile travel. Looking for ways to reduce carbon monoxide and other harmful pollutants? Preliminary tests have shown that operating a electric hybrids can cut down these emissions by 80 to 90 percent. It is a positive development for both the environment and the general population.

Conserving our natural resources is another environmental benefit the hybrid electric car provides this makes sense because electric hybrids run on less gasoline. The less gasoline we use now, the more that will be available underground for the future.

Hybrid cars are a lot better than the gas guzzlers we still drive, but I suggest that there are still far more improvements to be made on designs for vehicles and alternative ways of propelling engines, rather than the by gas engine need to be invented. What about solar/steam combos, and solar- bio-fuel combos sources? And, since lithium is limited , scientific minds need to look at that. Is there another way?
