Global warming and climate change.

Global warming refers to the rises in temperature and climate change world wide, which is having a negative impact on our environment. This is becoming a major issue for us all, as we experience weird weather patterns, locally, and witness the same situation world wide via the media. There is lots of evidence being made available today, that proves the increase in temperatures are real, and are causing the ice caps to melt and sea levels to rise.

Extreme temperatures changes world wide:

Global warming has also created extremes of temperature in areas that are not known for having extreme temperatures, this in turn has caused freak weather conditions like hurricanes and storms. There are many reasons why the world is experiencing global warming, one of the main ones being the levels of CO2 being affected by human activities over the past hundred years, for example over the last 5 decades there as been a major rise in the emissions from household gases.

The amounts of CO2 and greenhouse gases in the atmosphere are making the Earth's surface heat up, which is not good for the planet or the human race. In fact, figures show that the average temperature of the planet's surface has risen by approximately one degree Fahrenheit over the past 100 years. This has caused changes in snow cover and also a ten to twenty centimeter rise in sea levels in the same period.

The major areas of concern where global warming has affected the climate on the planet in a big way, are the oceans of the southern hemisphere and some areas Antarctica, which have really started to get warmer over the last few years. This as caused major concerns around the Antarctic sea ice melting, quicker than expected. As yet it seems that global changes in the tropical areas of the planet aren't much different to average over the last five decades. However, this will probably change over the next few years if the scientific figures are correct.

Regardless of all the arguments to the contrary, global warming does pose a very real danger to life on this planet, and is something that cannot be ignored and also dismissed as a scare tactic by certain people. Those of us who have become aware of global warming will need to learn about what can be done to reduce these negative affects being cause by human kind, and take action to change them, for the good of mother earth and future generations.
