Biodiesel fuel alternative for the future.

In the world today the use of biodiesel as a fossil fuel alternative is growing.  Biodiesel fuel is created by blending organic oils from lots of different sources with either alcohol or petroleum diesel fuel. The

most general types of organic oil used in biodiesel production comes from soybeans although there are many other plants which can be just as good to use such as canola and rapeseed and even reclaimed oil from your local takeaway.

What is really cool is biodiesel fuel can be made at home and in fact Biodiesel America has been informing its members that they can produce it for as little as 50cents a gallon by using recycled cooking oil. You could feel this to be a little impractical, but today in the US there are lots of vehicles on the road which use biodiesel fuel which has been produced from free oil from restaurants. Because most restaurants have to pay to get rid of the oil they use they are very often happy to give it to a car or truck owner who is prepared to take it off of their hands. In fact they could pay as much as $150 per 50 gallon drum of used oil to get rid of it properly.

The raw material that is used to make biodiesel fuel comes from Midwestern soybeans and it is not unusual to see pumps in the Midwest which are selling biodiesel alongside other fossil fuels. The use of renewable fuel has proven to be a great way for farmers to sell their crops (allowing them to stay on their land) and which has also been a benefit in the process of producing biodiesel fuel.

Seeing as biodiesel fuel is made from organic carbon sources, therefore making it carbon neutral. This means that burning it does not create any extra carbon emissions being added to the earth's biosphere. So when a plant photosynthesizes it uses up carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and then turns it into organic molecules such as oil.  So when you burn these oils when you use a biodiesel engine you are simply returning the carbon back into the atmosphere. This is completely different when using fossil fuels because when these fuels burn they release fossil carbon which actually increases the amount of carbon to be found in the atmosphere.

So as you can see the biodiesel fuel alternative seems like a excellent way to go if we want to help save our planet for future generations to enjoy.
