Many pre-made aromatherapy body lotions are wonderful, but if you would like to create your own unique mix of essential oils that will give you the smell and benefits that you're looking for, try making your own aromatherapy body lotion.

How to deal with Essential Oils?

If you know a lot about essential oils and have ideas about your favorites, creating a unique aromatherapy body lotion can be a wonderful way to get the benefits that you want without a long search.

The Smell That's Right for You

If your essential oils are pure, you will need very little. If diluted, you will need significantly more. You will also need unscented lotion as your base; baby lotions are often the best, as they are unscented and softening.

Creating your lotion is easy. Simply mix a small amount of lotion with a few drops of pure essential oil. Make sure that no more than ten percent of your mixture is oil, as any more can be itchy.

Using a Test Patch

Unless you have used your essential oil in skin treatments before, make sure to test a small amount of the aromatherapy body lotion on a patch of skin before use. Wait 24 hours to make sure that you don't have an allergic reaction.
