3 Types of Energy Healing

Have you ever heard of energy healing? Many have heard this term, and each person will have their own views and description based on their experience.

Energy healing is a broad field, ranging from Chinese medicine's work with the energy meridian system, to the more recent modalities offered through the findings and practices of individual healing practitioners. How do we talk about energy healing in a way that can be understood? It can be difficult, for the English language does not have words that support the concepts of spirituality.

Many of the words we use to describe energy healing and the energy systems of the body are found in eastern philosophies and ancient languages. The word chakra, meaning wheel, comes from the Sanskrit language. Many energy healers will speak of components of the energy bodies, such as the chakras. Some see the energy flowing, others feel or sense in other intuitive ways.

Acupuncture is one form of energy healing, and is based on the understanding of the energy meridian system known in Chinese medicine. This system, much like electrical lines in the body, has been known and practiced for thousands of years. In more recent times our modern western technologies have confirmed these energy lines, finding that there are differences in the subtle electrical impulses at the different acupuncture points.

Reiki is another type of energy healing. These days there are many who learn and practice Reiki healing, and those numbers include the medical community. Some doctors and nurses use Reiki energy healing as a complimentary treatment prior to surgery or medical procedures.

One of the most powerful forms of energy healing is prayer. Many do not think of prayer as energy healing, but prayer has proven to be an effective technique in aiding the healing process.

A shroud of mystery still surrounds energy healing. Is it possible to heal the body through thought and intent? Many believe it is not just possible, but that our thoughts are the leading force in restoring and maintaining health. Throughout time there has been a dividing line between those who believe in those subtle forces, and those who do not. Aside from the arguments we find that energy healing really does work.
